Job Descriptions for Elected PTA Officers

President
Shall preside at all meetings of the Matsunaga/Longview PTA (“MES/LS PTA”) and of the Executive Board; shall perform such other duties as may be prescribed in the Bylaws or assigned by the MES/LS PTA or by the Executive Board, and shall coordinate the work of the officers and committees of MES/LS PTA to ensure the success of the organization.

First Vice President/Fundraising
Presides at meetings in the absence of the President or upon the incumbent’s inability to serve; acts as aide to the President and assumes responsibility for duties assigned by the President; assumes leadership for and promotes the MES/LS PTA. Responsible for overseeing all fundraising activities, e.g., Sally Foster.

Second Vice President/Volunteerism
Presides at meetings in absence of the President and First Vice President or upon their inability to serve; acts as aid to the President and assumes responsibility for duties assigned by the President. Responsible for overseeing all volunteering for MES/LS PTA-sponsored events/programs, e.g., the Carnival. Coordination of classroom volunteers and classroom parties is not included in this position.

Treasurer
Shall have custody of all funds of the MES/LS PTA; shall keep a full and accurate account of receipts and expenditures; shall make disbursements as authorized by the President, Executive Board, or the MES/LS PTA in accordance with the budget adopted by the MES/LS PTA; shall be responsible for preparing and filing all necessary tax forms. Corresponding Secretary
Conducts correspondence of the association. Responsible for sending out notices of the Executive Board and other meetings. Responsible for the production, printing, and distribution of the MES/LS PTA newsletter.

Recording Secretary
Records minutes of all meetings of MES/LS PTA and of the Executive Board; shall file all records (other than financial records); shall have a current copy of the bylaws; shall maintain a current membership list; and shall perform other delegated duties as assigned.

Delegate (2 positions)
Serves as a link between MES/LS PTA and the County PTA (“MCCPTA”); required to attend the monthly MCCPTA Delegate Assemblies and report back to MES/LS PTA at the first Executive Board meeting after attending the Delegate Assembly to obtain local feedback for the next delegate Assembly, as is applicable.

Cluster Representative
Represents the interests of the academic community and is a liaison between the different schools with regard to MES/LS PTA matters.
